STAUROSPORINE

1. Product introduction

Staurosporine is a natural product isolated originally in 1977 by the bacterium Mycobacterium staurosporeus . This was the first time that more than 50 alkaloids were isolated with this type of bisindole chemical structure. The chemical structure of staurosporine was identified by X-ray diffraction analysis of a single crystal structure and absolute stereochemical configuration by the same method in 1994. Astrocystin was found to be biologically active and its potential for anticancer drug therapy was discovered. The main biological activity of astrocystin is the inhibition of protein kinase by preventing ATP binding to protein kinase. This is through the stronger affinity of astrocystin for the ATP-binding site of the kinase.
