EPOTHILONE

1. Product introduction

pothilone (epothilone) is a class of macrolides, which can be isolated from the fermentation broth of fibrocystis strains of the suborder Mucorubacteria, and its main components are Epothilone A and B. The main components are Epothilone A and B, which have similar activities as paclitaxel in microtubule protein polymerization and inhibition of microtubule depolymerization. Their paclitaxel-like microtubule protein polymerization and inhibition of microtubule depolymerization activities have made it a new generation of anti-mitotic drugs, whose mechanism of action is similar to that of paclitaxel analogues, which can bind to microtubule proteins leading to the inability of cancer cells to undergo mitosis successfully, and consequently to apoptosis. Epothilone is superior to paclitaxel in terms of antitumor spectrum, antitumor activity, safety, water solubility and synthesis method, and is expected to be developed into a more effective antitumor drug than paclitaxel.
