CLAVULANIC ACID
1. Product introduction
Clavulanic acid belongs to the irreversible competitive β-lactamase inhibitors, which inactivate the enzyme after firmly binding with it, thus it has strong effect, not only on the β-lactamase of Aureus, but also on the β-lactamase of Gram-negative bacilli. Combined with penicillins and cephalosporins, it greatly improves the antibacterial activity, which can make the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) drop significantly, and the drug can increase the effect by several times to dozens of times, so as to make the drug-resistant strains regain their sensitivity. This product, also known as rod acid, is a new oxygen-containing parent nucleus β-lactam antibiotic produced by Streptomyces.
