D-Mannose is a type of sugar, a monosaccharide, which can be simply understood as a sugar related to glucose, and exists as starch in some plants.D-Mannose is an epimer of glucose at the C-2 position, and exists in nature as a component of mannan. It is 60% and 86% sweeter than sucrose and D-glucose, respectively. Due to its low calorie and non-toxic properties, D-mannose is widely used in the food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food additive industries.
